RespirAir — Sherbrooke, Eastern Townships

When the air stops moving, we measure what is missing

Air exchangers, duct cleaning, range hoods, bathroom fans, dryer vents and air quality assessment: RespirAir reads the airflow, fits the right unit and confirms the air really leaves the house. In Sherbrooke and the Townships.

The method

Healthy air is measured before it is fixed

When the air smells stale or humidity climbs, the first question is not which unit to buy, but what the air really holds. RespirAir places the sensors, reads the airflow at the registers and reads the numbers before recommending anything.

01

Measure

The home's volume, humidity, CO2 and register airflow are read. A unit is chosen on those numbers, never by eye.

02

Choose

The right unit has a flow that matches the volume, neither too big nor too small. An oversized one stirs, an undersized one renews nothing.

03

Install

Straight ducts, code-compliant exterior outlets, backdraft dampers: a unit is only as good as the duct that feeds it.

04

Balance

Supply and exhaust are measured separately then set neutral, so the home neither pulls nor pushes. The real flow meets the calculated flow.

What we ventilate around Sherbrooke

Air Exchanger (HRV/ERV)

Air Exchanger (HRV/ERV)

The air exchanger renews the home's air without wasting heat: it pushes out humidity and pollutants while recovering energy from the exhausted air. We install, balance and service HRVs and ERVs.

Duct Cleaning

Duct Cleaning

Dust, pollen and mould spores pile up in the ducts and get blown back into every room. We vacuum the network with a rotary whip and clean the registers, from the plenum to the grilles.

Range Hood Installation

Range Hood Installation

A hood that truly vents moves grease, steam and odours outside instead of recirculating them. We install the hood, the duct and the exterior outlet, sized for the cooking you do.

Bathroom Fan

Bathroom Fan

A poorly sized bathroom fan lets humidity settle and mould appear on the ceiling. We install a unit with the right airflow, tied to an exterior outlet that does not blow back into the attic.

Dryer Vent

Dryer Vent

A lint-loaded dryer vent makes the machine work harder, dries less and can catch fire. We clear it, replace the torn flex and install a code-compliant outlet, with no useless bends.

Indoor Air Quality Assessment

Indoor Air Quality Assessment

Indoor air is measured before it is fixed: humidity, CO2, volatile organic compounds and mould. We place the sensors, read the numbers and recommend the right unit, neither too big nor too small.

The company

The airflow decides the unit, not the other way around

RespirAir works from the measurement rather than from a catalogue. A house closed up all winter does not breathe like a leaky bungalow from the 1970s, and the right unit changes with the volume, the number of occupants and how airtight the shell is. A flow sized to the room and checked at the register beats a bigger motor every time.

The proof of a finished job reads on the meter: after the install, supply and exhaust are measured separately and brought back to neutral, so the house neither pulls cold air through the outlets nor pushes damp air into the walls. An exchanger that is not balanced recovers heat on paper and loses it at the window.

  • Airflow readings before a unit is chosen
  • Code-compliant exterior outlets, never into the attic
  • Supply and exhaust balanced to neutral
  • Anemometer check before closing up

In the field

What humidity and CO2 tell you

A house rarely turns stuffy without warning. Condensation running down the windows in January, a bathroom that moulds at the ceiling, a kitchen that smells of last night's cooking the next morning — each one is the same air talking. The signals start weeks before the mould shows, and that is exactly when a balanced exchanger or a right-sized fan still fixes it without opening a wall.

The Townships winter seals houses tight: from November to April the windows stay shut, the air stops renewing and the CO2 climbs while nobody notices. A bedroom where two people sleep can pass 1,000 parts per million before breakfast. That is not a comfort detail, it is why the air feels heavy by evening, and why measuring beats guessing.

A structural problem — a duct that ends in the attic, a range hood that recirculates instead of exhausting, a bathroom fan vented into the soffit — will not be fixed by opening a window harder. The meter and the camera show it, and the reading becomes the basis for a repair that lasts instead of a fan that just spins louder.

The range hood ran hard but the smoke stayed in the room: the flexible duct was kinked in a zigzag, strangling the airflow. The tech replaced it with …
