DrainClair — Sherbrooke, Eastern Townships

When the water stops draining, we find the cause

Main sewer, sinks, showers, toilets, camera inspection and hydro jetting: DrainClair locates the blockage before forcing it, works from the nearest cleanout and puts the line back under full flow. In Sherbrooke and the Townships.

The method

A blocked drain is read before it is cleared

When the water stops draining, the first question is not which tool to pull out, but where the clog formed. DrainClair opens the nearest cleanout, watches which way the water recedes, then chooses between the auger and the water jet.

01

Locate

The nearest cleanout is opened, we listen and watch which way the water recedes. The clog sits almost always between the last free flow and the first backup.

02

Snake or film

The camera reads the cause — grease, roots, collapse — before the tool is chosen. The auger pierces, the water jet scours the wall.

03

Clear

The motorized auger feeds metre by metre and the resistance reads at the crank: grease drags, roots grab, and the clog lets go where the pressure changes.

04

Flush and check

The line is put back under full flow: a drain that runs free, not just "better than before". A pipe that still takes a minute to empty is not cleared.

The company

The cause decides the tool, not the other way around

DrainClair works the Townships ground from the yard cleanout rather than from guesswork: every clog is first located, then read on the camera, then only attacked. A four-inch branch under a bungalow slab is not handled like a one-and-a-quarter-inch sink arm, and the right tool changes with the diameter.

The proof of a finished job reads in the flow: after the auger or the jetting, the line is put back under full load, and the water must leave in one go. A pipe that still takes a minute to empty keeps a lower deposit. It is that full-flow test, repeated on every job, that sets a real clear apart from a half-done patch.

  • Blockage located before a tool is touched
  • Motorized auger and high-pressure hydro jetting
  • Camera inspection with pinpointing in metres
  • Full-flow test before closing the cleanout

In the field

What the receding water tells you

A drain rarely blocks without warning. The water rising around your ankles in the shower, a toilet that backs up with every flush, a sink that gurgles when the washing machine empties — each one is the same pipe talking. The slowdown starts weeks before the full backup, and that is exactly when the auger still suffices and the call stays short. Waiting for the water to stop moving is how a ten-minute clear becomes a flooded basement.

The Townships freeze-and-thaw cycle works the joints harder than steady cold. Water seeps into a hairline crack in the fall, freezes and wedges it wider over the winter, and by spring a root has found the new opening and pushed through. That is why Sherbrooke lines that ran clean in December can back up in April, and why the camera matters more than the auger when the clog keeps returning.

A structural defect — an offset joint, a back-pitched slope, a cast-iron pipe eaten through by rust — will not be fixed by snaking it again. The camera shows it, and the report with the pinpointed location becomes the basis for a lasting repair instead of a repeat patch. DrainClair clears the line, then tells you what will bring it back.
